Get Ready to Get Rugged (Sort of)...

The summer heat and humidity has fully set in, and we can’t help but long for an escape to someplace at least a little cooler. So we are totally ready to pack up, head north, and take in a long weekend up in the mountains. Obviously, the next question on our mind—what to wear? Thankfully, a mountain retreat is only as rugged as you want it to be. Whether you're into tents and sleeping bags or prefer the luxe cabin life, we’ve got the rundown of what to wear for any mountain excursion.
First things first, a jacket that keeps you warm and lets you move is a must. Whether you’re planning to hang outside by the fire or take in the sights on a mild hike, your outerwear should be both fashionable and functional. And for those chilly mornings, pair a vintage sweatshirt with our favorite one-piece workhorse—you guessed it, overalls.
It would be a travesty to forget to include the ultimate lounging staple, the classic tee. Throw your favorite tee under a soft maxi dress for late night relaxing (and a very on-trend '90s flashback moment). Don't forget your high top sneakers for running out back to grab more wood for the fire. And finally (if you're feeling daring), channel Marc Jacobs and opt for cool sandals with a pair of warm and wooly socks.
