We’ve witnessed enough trends recycle themselves to know we should never say ‘never' again. So imagine if this time last year, someone had dared to recommend pairing your look with a pair of kitten heels instead of those infamous, fur-adorned Princetown loafers. If you're anything like us, you would've rolled your eyes and firmly placed their style advice in a box marked 'never to be trusted'.
But a lot has changed in 12 months. And we're going to shoot straight with you, love it or hate it, the kitten heel is making a major comeback. And these days, we have started doling out that very same aforementioned advice. Never, say never, right?
So where did this kitten heel revolution come from? Well, if there’s anyone to blame for this sudden two-inch frenzy then it's Demna Gvasalia. As soon as he sent satin kitten heel mules, down the runway at Balenciaga, we knew we were all doomed. After all, this was the man who just the previous season had us lobbing uneven inches off our jeans and wishing we had never thrown out our Juicy Couture velour tracksuits. So if there's anyone to break out us out of the 'never wearing kitten heels again' mentality, it's him.
But beware, this trend isn’t as simple as flinging on a pair before you dash out the door. They need careful styling in order to elevate them from looking like a nineties castaway pulled from the depths of some closet. If teaming with trousers make sure they’re cropped so you get a decent flash of ankle-bone, and dress them down with a graphic t-shirt. Jeans balance out the overt lady-like vibes, especially with a rolled or frayed hem.
If going for a skirt, keep it mid-length, an asymmetrical hem is even better and play with proportions on top with an oversized sweatshirt. And for the brave do as the runways did and wear with a pair of luxe-looking tracksuit trousers.

So while skipping around in comfortable shoes vowing never to wear a heel again, kitten or otherwise, was something we genuinely believed to be true, we are seriously contemplating picking up a few of the pairs below. Just to make Demna proud...
