The Three Trends We Are Leaving in 2017
Kelli Conway • 12/26/2017
In the world of fashion, 2017 has been almost as busy as Kaia Gerber’s Spring ’18 runway calendar. And with only two weeks left before we ring in the new year, we can’t help but reminisce about the past twelve months. This year brought us the summer of gingham, the obsession with Cult Gaia (and basket bags in general), the revival of a playful and flamboyant Gucci, and more plaid blazers than our closets really needed. While there are a number of these trends we aren’t fully ready to let go of yet, there are a few we definitely plan on leaving in 2017…

Millennial Pink
As much as we love a dusty pink hue, the novelty of dressing head-to-toe like a bottle of rosé is starting to wane a bit. We won't cut ties with the shade entirely just yet, but we are looking forward to showcasing some new colors (think super rich yellows and bold greens) in our wardrobes in the coming year.

Belt Bags
If you would've asked us last January if we would ever use the words ‘chic’ and ‘fanny pack’ in the same sentence, we would have laughed in your face. But the '80s staple reemerged in a big way this year. While we never executed a full swan dive into the belt bag pool, Alessandro Michele did make us at least consider it. With the influx of new bag silhouettes all over the Spring '18 runways, we’re pretty sure we’ll be saying goodbye to the fanny pack trend (again).

Off-The-Shoulder Everything
’Twas the summer of perfectly bronzed shoulders and sunkissed collarbones thanks to the trend that was off-the-shoulder-everything. No doubt this style had more than its 15 minutes in the spotlight, but we’re ready to give it a break in the new year. With that said, we plan on trading it in for vintage-inspired blouses, especially ones with an interesting sleeve. They’re just as charming and (bonus!) there's no strapless bra required.
