It's time for a little structure...

Before they became a fashion statement, handbags were functional accessories used by men and women alike. As they have evolved, they've taken on new size and scale–with an intense focus on their architecture and often taking on new inventive (and sometimes even "unbag-like" forms). This was apparent on the Fall and Spring 2019 runways, where designers showed handbags with sculptural, structured silhouettes. These ranged from sharp and minimal to more novel and playful styles, taking inspiration from other points in history, fashion, and pop culture.
