Before they became a fashion statement, handbags were functional accessories used by men and women alike. As they have evolved, they've taken on new size and scale–with an intense focus on their architecture and often taking on new inventive (and sometimes even "unbag-like" forms). This was apparent on the Fall and Spring 2019 runways, where designers showed handbags with sculptural, structured silhouettes. These ranged from sharp and minimal to more novel and playful styles, taking inspiration from other points in history, fashion, and pop culture.
There's just something about the boxy nature of these babies that scream girlboss to us. And, let's be real, who doesn’t love a bag that can be described as bossy? The answer seems to be: pretty much no one. The work- and weekend-approved style is clearly a hit among our own team but should definitely make it into your wardrobe, too...
